The Spiderwick movie opens this Thursday and it looks like a good one. It certainly has a fun web site, if that’s any indication. Plump up your display of books by Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black with other books about extra-normal creatures. Click “more” below for a short list. Simon & Schuster offers a variety of printable activities we might offer as pickup items.
Here are some Juvenile and Young Adult books featuring magical creatures:
The Fairy Realm books by Emily Rodda
Cicely Mary Barker‘s Flower Fairy books
Daisy Meadow‘s First Chapter books (the Color Fairies, the Weather Fairies, the Gem Fairies, etc.)
J.T. Petty‘s Clemency Pogue books
Peter Pan (including the original, Geraldine McCaughrean‘s Peter Pan in Scarlet, and Dave Barry‘s Peter books)
The Artemis Fowl books by Eoin Colfer
Books by Gail Carson Levine such as Fairy dust and the quest for the egg and its sequel, Fairy Haven and the quest for the wand
The Secrets of Dripping Fang series by Dan Greenburg
Blackbringer by Laini Taylor
The Fablehaven books by Brandon Mull
Demonkeeper by Royce Buckingham
And don’t miss Holly Black‘s YA books; Tithe, Valiant and Ironside
First Chapter books based on the movie script are on order – be on the lookout!
